HelloBCN + Hello Bella

Traveling can be difficult. Like, really difficult. All of a sudden you are thrown into a world different than your own, and you have to figure out how to navigate without a compass. Traveling can leave you tired, lonely and sometimes even afraid. But there’s a reason why people do it – traveling is growing. Traveling is learning. Traveling is confidence and adventure and understanding. It shows you how big the world really is – that there are cultures functioning in society different than your own. And that’s why we do it. That’s why we pack up our life into a little suitcase and plane / train / automobile to far-away places, and watch the world grow before our eyes.

Allow me to introduce myself – My name is Bella. I am 21 years old and I am from the United States of America, more specifically the lovely state of Missouri (located in what we call the Midwest – the very center of the United States.) Even more specifically I am from Kansas City – a great city to visit if you are ever in the States. I attend school at the University of Missouri where I am studying journalism. I am here in Barcelona for the semester (January until May) where I will be interning at HelloBCN Hostel.

For reference, this is me!

I have been given the opportunity to take over the HelloBCN blog, where I will be writing about all things Barcelona: Where to find the BEST tapas in town, how to explore the city without making your bank account cry, the best places to grab drink on a Thursday night, etcetera. If this is your first time in Barcelona, you will need to see the big things that attracts travelers from all over the world (La Sagrada Familia, the Gothic Quarter, and so on.) BUT you should also be able to get off the busy, popular streets lined with people trying to sell you trinkets, and find a neat restaurant tucked away in an alley, or go for a drink at a bar that is truly authentic. You deserve to find the hidden charm of Barcelona.Hopefully this blog (which I will be updating weekly) will provide that insight for you.

Bear with me a bit, I am still getting to know this vibrant, ancient, stunningly beautiful city just like you are – we are in this together. But I promise that I will be honest, and keep your best interest in mind.

Until Next Time + With love,
